Where the Money Goes
Flights are 30–50% of budget for international travelers
Best deals from Europe/Gulf in shoulder months (April, October). Domestic PIA flights Islamabad → Skardu run ~$120 round trip when available.
Accommodation ranges $15–250/night
Hostels & guesthouses ($15–30), mid-range hotels ($40–80), Shangrila & Serena Khaplu ($150–250). Camping on treks is $5–10.
Jeep hire is the hidden cost
A 4×4 with driver runs $80–120/day. Required for Deosai, Hushe, Shimshal. Shared jeeps cut this in half.
Food is cheap and fantastic
Local meals $2–5, sit-down restaurants $8–15, hotel buffets $20–35. Tip 5–10%.
Permits & insurance: $80–250 per person
Visa $60, K2/Concordia permit $50–200, insurance $30–100. We handle paperwork at no markup when you book a tour.
